Training for WIRES Emergency Team Leaders
Thank you for your expression of interest in the training course for WIRES Emergency Team Leaders. The course details are as follows:
Where: M Block, Bathurst TAFE Campus, Panorama Avenue, Bathurst.
Please note that the speed limit on Campus is 20 kph.
When: Date in 2009 to be set, most likely May/June (3 days).
Sessions will be from 0900 – 1600.
What: The course will comprise four nationally accredited modules:
RTC2701A Follow OHS procedures
RTD3125A Respond to wildlife emergencies
FPIFGM147A Read and interpret maps
RUV2108A Rescue animals and apply basic animal care
Why: This course will give you the skills to lead a team of volunteers to rescue animals in an emergency situation, such as following a bushfire, flood or storm.
Assessment: Assessment for this course will include worksheets, oral questions and observation of your active participation in practical sessions and scenarios. You will be given full details of assessment at the commencement of the course.
Bring: Notebook, pens, pencils.
Wear: Comfortable casual clothing. Bring long pants, a long sleeved shirt, covered footwear (i.e. boots or sturdy leather shoes) and a hat for practical exercises and scenarios that will be conducted outdoors. Bring something warm to wear first thing in the morning and in the evening.
